Renew Psychological Services

Compassionate, evidence-based psychological care designed to support your personal growth, emotional healing, and help you thrive

Rooted in what you need

My belief is that someone can thrive at any point in life. I see myself as a support to help you through whatever you are going through. I am open-minded and I try to use different techniques and perspectives. Sometimes, people see me once for some feedback and to gain tools. Other times, people will continue therapy ongoing.

About Me

Erika Wight, PsyD., LP

My interest in psychology began when I was a student at Prior Lake High School, and I have been fortunate to build a career that has allowed me to work with people from many different backgrounds and at many different stages of life.

Since earning my doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2008, I have worked in Minnesota, with most of my career focused on outpatient therapy in suburban and rural communities. My professional experience has also included work in outpatient clinics, a psychiatric hospital, a crisis center, and a residential treatment center. Along the way, I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families in urban, suburban, and rural settings.

I believe that effective therapy starts with understanding each person as an individual. My goal is to create a space where you can feel comfortable being yourself, explore what is happening in your life without judgment, and work toward meaningful change. I have experience working with people from a wide variety of cultural, religious, political, and personal backgrounds, and I value meeting each person with curiosity, respect, and openness.

I have completed specialized training in a variety of approaches, including trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, neurofeedback, biofeedback, grief therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), transgender care, couples therapy, and integrative care.

I have also had the opportunity to work with people facing a wide range of life experiences and challenges, including first responders, military veterans, people at various stages of gender transition, and individuals living with complex medical conditions.

My education includes a B.A. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and a Psy.D. from Alliant International University in San Diego. I am grateful to have spent my career in Minnesota and to continue helping people navigate difficult challenges, develop greater understanding of themselves, and create lives that feel more meaningful and manageable.

My Approach to Therapy

I want therapy to be both helpful and enjoyable—a place where you feel comfortable being yourself while also being challenged to grow. I take a down-to-earth, practical approach and work collaboratively with you to understand where you are, where you want to go, and what might help you get there.

I respect that everyone comes to therapy with a unique background, perspective, and set of experiences. I try to understand what works for you and draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches and ideas. I also enjoy incorporating things I’ve learned from many different areas of life into my work.

My goal is to work together to make sense of what you are experiencing, identify what matters most to you, and find practical ways to move toward the life you want.
